Symptoms
You applyupdate 948515 on a computer that is running Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). After you do this, you experience problems when you try to mount Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) files by using the Vhdmount.exe tool.
For example, if you run the vhdmount /m vhd file command or the vhdmount /p vhd file command, you may receive the following error message:
The specified operation could not be completed as an unexpected error has occurred.
Resolution
This issue occurs because the Vhdstor.sys driver is not successfully upgraded to version 1.1.623.0 after you install update 948515.

Symptoms
Consider the following scenario: You connect a computer to an iSCSI target by using a network adapter.You install Windows Server 2008 on a disk on the iSCSI target.After the DVD installation phase has finished, you start the Windows Server 2008-based system on the disk on the iSCSI target.In this scenario, the computer restarts repeatedly. This problem occurs with certain network adapters.
Resolution
Hotfix informationImportant Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only one of these products may be listed on the “Hotfix Request” page. To request the hotfix package that applies to both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, just select the product that is listed on the page.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Expand –f:* Windows6.0-KB952942-platform.msu <extracted location>Note When you run this command, replace the <extracted location> placeholder with the path of an existing directory in which you want to save the extracted files. A Windows6.0-KB952942-platform.cab file is extracted.Create an answer file. The answer file is used during the OS installation. imagex /info <WIM image path>\Install.wim If you see <IMAGE INDEX=”2″>, the image number is 2 (1 for Standard Server systems, 2 for Enterprise Server systems, 3 for DataCenter Server systems). The number should correspond to the image you selected in step 5-c. In this command, the image is mounted to F:\mount.
Note If you receive an “access denied” error when you try to mount the image, remove the read-only attribute by using the following command and then mount the image again.
